Cortus appoints R. Scott Hills as Vice President Sales
Processor IP specialist Cortus hires semiconductor industry veteran Scott Hills
Montpellier, France -- September 18, 2013 -- Cortus, a technology leader in cost effective, silicon efficient, 32-bit processor IP, announces that they are appointing Mr R. Scott Hills as Vice President Sales with immediate effect.
Mr Hills, a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, brings a wealth of semiconductor industry market and application experience to Cortus. He has previously sold 32-bit microprocessor IP for ARC (now Synopsys) along with development tools, IDE and multi-tasking Real Time Operating systems. He has managed the sales on processor product lines at Silicon Motion and Cirrus Logic, and managed the marketing of development tools and processors at AMD.
“Scott’s expertise will be a great addition to the Cortus executive team”, says Michael Chapman, CEO and President of Cortus, “His proven experience in key markets such as smart cards, sensors and storage will help us to grow - especially in North America”.
“With a new wave of smart applications hitting the market, Cortus is well positioned to address embedded processing designs”, says R. Scott Hills. “The combination of low power and silicon efficiency makes Cortus the smart choice for SoC developers”.
The Cortus family of APS processors starts with the world’s smallest 32-bit core, the APS1, and goes up to the floating point FPS6. All cores interface to Cortus’ peripherals including Ethernet 10/100 MAC, USB 2.0 Device and USB 2.0 OTG via the efficient APS bus. They also share the simple vectored interrupt structure which ensures rapid, real time interrupt response, with low software overhead.
The APS toolchain and IDE (for C and C++) is available to licensees free of charge, and which can be customised and branded for final customer use. Ports of various RTOSs are available such as FreeRTOS, Micrium uC/OSII and uCLinux.
To date approximately 500 million devices have been manufactured containing Cortus processor cores.
