Silterra Launches IP Initiative
Company Collaborates With Artisan to Develop Design Libraries
KULIM, Malaysia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2002--Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a premier semiconductor-manufacturing foundry, today announced that it has launched a silicon intellectual property (IP) initiative. The company will kick-off the program by offering free industry standard design libraries to its customers through Artisan Components.
Artisan will custom-develop a comprehensive set of its popular libraries for Silterra's 0.18-micron CMOS18 process, which has been in production since October 2001. The libraries include the SAGE-X standard cells, five memory generators and two I/O libraries. In addition to the foundation libraries, Silterra's initiative includes high-speed I/Os, specialty memories, analog components, processor cores and others from leading IP providers.
"Artisan is the leading library provider in the industry and they fit in nicely with our strategy for providing application-focused, industry standard solutions to our customers," said Victor Kwong, vice president of marketing for Silterra. "Customers prefer to work with familiar technologies and IP platforms. Our topologically and electrically xSMC-compatible family of process technologies has been very well received. Now we are working diligently to add the pieces that are also important to our customers' applications."
The Artisan libraries will be available from Silterra beginning in September 2002, with preliminary front-end models available shortly for customers to start their designs. Additional silicon IP components, especially high-speed interfaces such as LVDS and USB 2.0, will be certified during the third and fourth quarters of this year.
"Our goal is to extend our compatibility beyond process technologies and offer our customers IP blocks they are already familiar with, thus increasing their design productivity," added Kwong.
