Xilinx and Alcatel Broaden Ethernet Connectivity Solutions for Virtex-II Platform FPGAs
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 19, 2002 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) and Alcatel (NYSE:ASA) today announced the immediate availability of the Alcatel Gigabit and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) cores for use in Xilinx® Virtex-II® family of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The MAC cores support the layer 2 protocol for Ethernet transfer per the IEEE 802.3 standards for networking devices such as routers, switches, printers, DSL and cable modems.
