Partnership Supports Delivery of Sonics NoCs in Broadest Range of Customer Tool Environments
Milpitas, Calif. – October 21, 2014 – Sonics, Inc., the world’s foremost supplier of on-chip network (NoC) technologies and services, and Magillem, the leading provider of front-end design Extensible Markup Language (XML) solutions that reduce the global cost of complex, system-on-chip (SoC) and field programmable gate array (FPGA) platforms, today announced their partnership on SoC methodologies and design flows. The companies are collaborating to ease integration of Sonics IP into the SoC design flows for heterogeneous, multi-core devices. Sonics has incorporated Magillem’s IP-XACT Checker suite into the validation process for its highly configurable NoC products to ensure the broadest and most complete support for customer tool environments.
“We have been an advocate for ease of IP integration from tool interoperability, design flow, and on-chip communication protocol perspectives since our early involvement in the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSIA) during the late ‘90s,” said Drew Wingard, CTO of Sonics. “We started working with Magillem six years ago and they have become a trusted partner in making our joint customers successful. Although it is an industry standard (IEEE-1685), there are many degrees of IP-XACT compliance. Sonics takes comprehensive measures that include the use of Magillem’s Checker suite to provide the highest level of IP integration for any NoC available on the market today.”
“We are excited to announce our partnership with Sonics and further explore ways to best serve our customers,” said Cyril Spasevski, CTO of Magillem. “Better tool interoperability, improved ease of integration, and maximized user productivity have always been the focus of the collaboration between our companies. As the provider of highly configurable IP, Sonics knows it is critical to fully validate compliance to the IP-XACT standard. Our Checker suite is the most comprehensive test suite available on the market and it gives Sonics users the highest level of flow integration confidence.”
Looking forward in the partnership, Sonics and Magillem will explore automatic creation of design derivatives that incorporate newer versions of the Sonics NoC. The built-in update features of Magillem’s Design Life tool will be used as a foundation for this project, which is focused on significantly shortening time-to-market and increasing overall quality of results.
Magillem, a member of the ARM Connected Community, a board member of ACCELLERA, has developed an easy to use, IP-XACT based state-of-the-art platform solution to cover electronic systems design flow challenges in a context where complexity, interoperability and design re-use are becoming critical issues to manage design cycle time of SOC. The Company is headquartered in Paris, France with offices in Grenoble, Sophia Antipolis, New York, Austin, Dallas, San Jose, (USA), Bristol (UK) and Tokyo (Japan). Magillem has a presence in 12 countries including Israel, Korea, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and India. Customers include the first-tier SoC and FPGA manufacturers worldwide. Magillem is a public company traded on the Euronext Market (FR0010827741).
