MPEG LA Introduces License for DisplayPort
License Initially Covers Technologies Owned By Hitachi Maxell, Philips, Silicon Image and Sony
DENVER, CO, US – March 6, 2015 – MPEG LA, LLC today announced the availability of the DisplayPort Patent Portfolio License. The DisplayPort License provides coverage for a variety of digital interface technology standards used in connecting audio/video sources among products such as computer monitors, video projectors, televisions, adaptors, personal computers, graphic cards, motherboards, storage devices, smartphones, tablets, flat panel displays and cameras.
“Once again, MPEG LA is proud to be part of the solution,” said MPEG LA President and CEO Larry Horn. “Like MPEG LA’s other licenses, our license for DisplayPort gives product suppliers convenient access to important technologies under a single patent license enabling them to focus their resources on innovation and new product creation instead of protracted licensing and litigation. It is the marketplace at work.”
Initial DisplayPort technology owners include Hitachi Maxell, Ltd.; Koninklijke Philips N.V.; Silicon Image, Inc.; and Sony Corporation.
