Xentech Solutions Ltd selects Achronix Speedster22i FPGAs for its Axtrinet Ethernet Packet Generators
Santa Clara, Calif., May 17, 2016 – Achronix Semiconductor Corporation today announced that Xentech Solutions Limited selected Achronix Speedster22i FPGAs for its compact and low-cost Axtrinet™ Ethernet Packet Generators. By using the embedded hard Ethernet and DDR3 controllers in Speedster22i FPGAs, Xentech was able to meet its aggressive cost and power targets.
The Speedster22i devices were the industry’s first FPGAs with embedded hard IP for high-performance wireline applications. The hard IP includes 10/40/100G Ethernet, Interlaken, PCI Express Gen3 x8 and up to DDR3 x72 controllers. Hardening key interface IP in the Speedster22i devices frees up the programmable logic fabric that would otherwise need to be used to implement the interfaces using soft IP. The hard IP approach increases the effective capacity of the FPGA and significantly reduces the FPGA power consumption. The Speedster22i family is built on 22nm Tri-Gate technology and includes devices with densities up to 1 million effective look-up-tables (LUTs) and 86 Mbits of on-chip memory.
Designed to meet the needs of “Ethernet Everywhere” and the infrastructure behind the “Internet of Things,” the Axtrinet APG Ethernet Packet Generators provides a compact and affordable set of 40Gbps and 10Gbps Ethernet Packet Generator/Analysers with a simple-to-use Graphical User Interface and an open TCL API for third-party scripting.
Designed for applications in R&D, Test, and Manufacturing environments, the Axtrinet APG Packet Generators allow reliable and affordable testing of Ethernet network equipment, specialist devices such as an FPGA-based accelerator NIC cards and offload appliances and Ethernet infrastructure installations encompassing cabling and switches.
“Our Axtrinet APG Ethernet Packet Generators deliver the size, price and functionality so that every engineer can have one at their own desk; and the Speedster22i devices with hardened high-speed Ethernet and DDR3 controllers were the perfect FPGA solution for our requirements”, said Kevin O’Brien, Managing Director of Xentech Solutions Ltd. “Most importantly, Achronix support has been excellent during every step of the design process, helping us reduce our design cycle time.”
“Xentech has built a superior Ethernet tester product that will have wide range appeal,” said Steve Mensor, Vice President of Marketing, Achronix Semiconductor. “We are very pleased that our industry leading Speedster22i FPGAs and excellent support team has helped Xentech build a successful product.”
