NXP's New SmartMX2 P60 Step-Up! Secure Element is Enabled with Intrinsic-ID's Technology to Provide Secure Authentication and Confidential Data Exchange
SRAM PUF helps SmartMX2 protect personal payment data and eGovernment Services against identity theft
Sunnyvale -- November 16, 2016 -- Intrinsic-ID announces that it’s SRAM PUF- (Physical Unclonable Functions) technology is embedded within NXP® Semiconductor’s SmartMX2 P60 Step-Up! secure microcontroller to provide enhanced security. The need for anti-cloning technology and higher encryption key protection is growing as identity theft becomes rampant. Intrinsic-ID’s SRAM PUF is able to extract unique identities from SRAM to use as the root of security for the SmartMX2 microcontroller (see related News Release from NXP).
“Intrinsic-ID’s SRAM PUF anti-cloning technology provides IDs even more unique than human fingerprints to secure smart cards for applications such as ePassports, eID cards, driving licenses, health cards, payment cards and embedded security.” said Pim Tuyls, CEO of Intrinsic-ID. “The wide availability of the SmartMX2 microcontroller helps ensure security around the world with high-grade PUF-based security.”
“NXP has a relentless commitment to develop state-of-the art products that meet the high-end security requirements for sensitive applications like payment, eGovernment and access management,” said Sébastien Clamagirand, senior director and general manager, Secure Identification at NXP. “Using Intrinsic-ID’s SRAM PUF technology with our SmartMX products ensures we can continue to meet the market demand for high secure identification solutions.”
About Intrinsic-ID
Intrinsic-ID is the world’s leading digital authentication company and the inventor of SRAM Physical Unclonable Function or SRAM PUF. Intrinsic-ID leverages inherent manufacturing variations in chips to create unique IDs and keys to authenticate chips, data, devices and systems. Since a unique ID can be extracted easily from SRAM with Intrinsic-ID’s technology, adding authentication and key provisioning is much less expensive than with current methods; no additional hardware is needed. Due to the low cost of implementing SRAM PUF and the critical need for security, Intrinsic-ID’s authentication technology is ideally positioned to address the needs of the fast-growing IoT market. Intrinsic-ID’s solutions are used worldwide to validate payment systems, secure connectivity, authenticate sensors and protect sensitive government and military data and systems.
