Qualcomm Begins Commercial Sampling of World's First 10nm Server Processor and Reshapes the Future of Datacenter Computing
Qualcomm Centriq 2400 Family Combines Industry’s Most Advanced Process Node with up to 48 Custom ARMv8-Compliant Cores, Targeting Compute-Intensive Datacenter Applications
Dec 7, 2016 -- SAN DIEGO -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies, Inc., today announced commercial sampling and conducted a live demonstration of the world’s first 10nm server processor. As the first in the Qualcomm Centriq™ product family, the Qualcomm Centriq 2400 series has up to 48-cores and is built on the most advanced 10nm FinFET process technology. The Qualcomm Centriq 2400 series features the Qualcomm® Falkor™ CPU, Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies’ custom ARMv8-compliant core, which is highly optimized to deliver both high performance and power efficiency, and designed to tackle the most common datacenter workloads.
Leading the industry to the next-generation node, today’s announcement underscores a monumental achievement in delivering leading-edge, high performance ARM-based server processors to the datacenter. Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies is now uniquely positioned to address the needs of cloud customers seeking new server solutions optimized for total cost of ownership, while meeting performance, efficiency and power demands. Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies aims to reshape the future of datacenter computing by delivering innovative server SoCs that leverage the ARM ecosystem, providing customers with a choice in high-end server processors.

As part of today’s event, Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies demonstrated Apache Spark and Hadoop on Linux and Java running on a Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor. The Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor series is now sampling to key prospective customers and is expected to be commercially available in the second half of 2017.
