SandCraft Selects Denali's Databahn for High-Performance Processors
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Aug. 13, 2001 -- SandCraft Inc., a leader in high-performance MIPS® and application-specific processor design, and Denali Software Inc., the leader in high-performance memory system design and verification, today announced that SandCraft has licensed Denali's Databahn[tm] configurable memory processor technology and Memory Modeler -- Advanced Verification (MMAV) IP.
SandCraft is developing a family of ultra high-performance, highly integrated processors optimized for control plane communications applications such as high-end core and edge routers, layer 2 and 3 switches, remote access servers, and G3 wireless base stations. Databahn is a configurable memory processor for system-on-chip (SoC) designs that require high-performance memory systems. MMAV verification IP is the industry-standard solution for memory simulation and system verification.

SandCraft will use Denali's products to optimize system performance and reduce system cost. Once integrated into the SandCraft design, the Databahn memory processor IP will enable SandCraft to extract optimal performance from new and emerging memory architectures with only minimal reconfiguration.
"Offering the highest performance in the context of a balanced system is key for our next-generation microprocessor implementations," said Michael Barar, vice president of sales and marketing at SandCraft. "SandCraft is designing superscalar processors for advanced networking services, and has selected Denali's memory controller IP as the best available solution to maximize data flow and minimize memory latency."
"Demand for ever-increasing bandwidth is driving the need for high-performance network cores and edge infrastructures," said Kevin Silver, vice president of marketing at Denali Software. "SandCraft's highly scalable, standards-compliant architecture will let customers easily upgrade to new generations of processors while remaining compatible with the installed base."
