Teradiant Networks Uses Artisan to Speed Development of Configurable Network Processor; Ease of Integration of Analog, Mixed-Signal and Digital IP Helps Reduce Design Time
Teradiant utilized Artisan's specialty I/Os (LVDS, HSTL, PCI-X), SAGE-X(TM) standard cell library, high-speed memories and high-performance 533MHz PLL in TSMC 0.13-micron process. The system-on-a-chip (SoC) design combined Artisan's analog and digital IP to meet the TeraPacket chipset's requirement to manage high data throughput. Teradiant selected Artisan's silicon-proven IP based on its high performance, ease of integration and ESD performance.
"The design of our high-performance chipset involved the challenge of integrating a variety of IP," said Chakki Kavoori, director of engineering at Teradiant. "However, the breadth and ease of integrating Artisan's analog and mixed-signal IP streamlined the process and helped us to maintain our schedule for achieving tapeout."
"Teradiant is at the forefront of designing highly flexible, performance-driven network solutions," said Callan Carpenter, vice president and general manager of Artisan's Analog/Mixed-Signal Business Unit. "Applications this demanding require rock-solid IP and a proven methodology for integrating high-performance analog into complex SoCs. Artisan's ability to solve the noise isolation issues inherent in placing 2000 high-speed I/Os on a single chip is what makes our solutions sought after by cutting-edge design companies such as Teradiant."
About Teradiant Networks
Teradiant Networks develops and markets semiconductors that enable the convergence of multiservice and IP networks by allowing networking system manufacturers to build scalable switch and router platforms for such networks. Teradiant chipsets are designed to overcome the performance, scalability and deployment limitations of today's network processors and of custom-designed ASICs used for packet processing and traffic management. In February 2001, Teradiant raised over $26 million in first-round funding from Menlo Ventures, Idanta Partners, Diamondhead Ventures, FBB, Compass Technology Partners, and private investors.
