Wafer Foundry Marketplace Opens For E-Business
Quickly increasing customer choices, while shorting the design cycle
CUPERTINO, Calif., - March 15, 2004 - Wafer Foundry Services Inc. (WFS) has announced the opening of its Internet-based wafer foundry services marketplace (www.waferquote.com). This technical and business-oriented electronic marketplace will give semiconductor companies a single web location to communicate with and evaluate multiple wafer foundries offerings and quickly decide the best wafer foundry to support their unique needs.
"Our vision is to shorten the overall IC design time by giving semiconductor companies access to a broad range of wafer foundries," said L.T. Guttadauro, President of Wafer Foundry Services Inc. "Within one complete resource, companies now have the ability to issue just one request for quote (RFQ) to many vendors simultaneously. This gives a company flexibility when looking for a wafer-manufacturing partner."
The website currently has three charter member foundry partners: 1st Silicon with manufacturing facilities in Malaysia; ZMD Foundry Division with facilities in Germany; and, Tower Semiconductor with manufacturing in Israel.
Initial manufacturing processes offered would be Deep Sub-Micron Digital CMOS, CMOS Mixed Signal, CMOS Image Sensor and CMOS Embedded Non-Volatile Memory. Additional foundry partners and process technologies are planned for later this year.
