Bitboys Licenses G34 Graphics Processor to NEC Electronics
Espoo, Finland - August 10th, 2004 -- Bitboys today announced that it has licensed the new Bitboys G34 graphics processor to NEC Electronics. The Bitboys G34 graphics processor is licensed as an IP (IntellectualProperty) core.
"We are delighted about our long-term partnership and NEC Electronics' continuing trust in Bitboys' graphics processing technology," said Mikko Saari, CEO of Bitboys.
The new Bitboys G34 graphics processor was unveiled today at SIGGRAPH, Los Angeles. The graphics processor offers a multitude of new advanced features such as full-screen very high quality anti-aliasing, multi-texturing, trilinear texture filtering, efficient memory handling and full 32-bit internal and external color.
The performance of the G34 is further enhanced by a programmable geometry engine that supports programmable floating-point vertex shaders, allowing detailed, lifelike scenes and animations. The graphics processor supports industry standard graphics APIs such as OpenGL® ES, Microsoft Direct3D® Mobile and M3G for J2ME™.
"We are happy to continue our relationship with Bitboys as we appreciate their skill for developing solutions that are suitable for volume-market production," said Toshiya Matsui, a group manager of 3rd Systems Operation Unit from NEC Electronics.
Finland-based Bitboys develops and licenses graphics hardware IP solutions for various wireless and embedded devices. Bitboys graphics processors are specifically designed for power and size restricted environments and are the outcome of over 12 years of experience in graphics research and development. The first product line targeted for wireless and embedded devices has been available for licensing since July 2003. Bitboys currently employs 33 dedicated graphics professionals.
