Xilinx Releases Production Virtex-4 FPGAs
Company leads industry in delivery of production-qualified 90nm devices
SAN JOSE, Calif., January 31, 2005 -Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), the world's leading provider of programmable solutions, today announced production qualification of the first three devices in its award-winning 90nm Virtex-4 FPGA family. With the qualification of these devices, the LX25, LX60, and SX35, Xilinx now has a total of 14 FPGAs in production at 90nm, more than three times the number of its nearest competitor. The company leads the PLD industry by more than a year on 90nm process technology and has shipped over 1.5 million 90nm devices.
"Our application demanded a unique combination of high-performance and low power consumption," said Brian Donahoe, president of Digital Design Corporation, a design services company based in Illinois. "The Xilinx Virtex-4 LX25 FPGAs were a perfect fit, and their production release enabled us to meet our aggressive schedule."
"We're very pleased to be delivering the Virtex-4 family ahead of schedule," said Erich Goetting, vice president and general manager of the Advanced Products Division at Xilinx. "Our one year lead on the 90nm node has resulted in one of the fastest product ramps in company history and our customer base is thrilled with the results."
Developed using a unique 90nm triple-oxide CMOS technology, the Xilinx Virtex-4 family provides the industry's highest performance, with logic, memory, clocking, and signal processing blocks tuned to 500 MHz performance while reducing power consumption to as little as 1/10 that of competing devices. Earlier this month, the Virtex-4 family was named "2004 Product of the Year" by Electronic Products Magazine.
