TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan's Acer Laboratories Inc. here today jumped into the Bluetooth chip market, announcing that it has licensed this technology from NewLogic Technologies AG of Lustenau, Austria. Under the terms, Taipei-based Acer Labs will integrate NewLogic's intellectual property (IP) cores in its PC chip set lines. This includes NewLogic's Bluetooth-enabled, CMOS-based radio transceiver. NewLogic's IP line, dubbed Boost, also includes a Bluetooth-enabled baseband processor, software protocol stack and a CMOS-based radio. These IP elements, combined with microcontroller core, permit the implementation of a single-chip, CMOS-based Bluetooth solution.
