Transition Plan: Leonardo publishes its transition strategy

Leonardo presents its Transition Plan: Sustainable Value Creation, which defines a concrete and measurable pathway to guide the Group's transition towards a sustainable and resilient business model. The plan is framed within a global context marked by climate and environmental changes, as well as technological transformations, steering the corporate strategy towards innovation, responsibility, and long-term value creation.

The climate and environmental strategy is fully integrated into Leonardo’s Industrial Plan. Every investment is evaluated according to environmental criteria and supported by a robust governance framework that ensures oversight of the entire process and transparent reporting to all stakeholders.

A central element of the plan is the decoupling of growth from environmental impacts, including the use of natural resources and the protection of biodiversity. The Group’s transition strategy is based on circular economy initiatives, such as extending the useful life of materials and increasing the reuse and repurposing rate of waste in other production processes. Other key pillars are energy efficiency and self-generation, aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and supporting the decarbonization of operations.

Leonardo’s product portfolio is increasingly aligned with these principles. Services dedicated to Earth observation and emergency management, and solutions with reduced environmental impact assist our customers not only in their transition journey but also in adapting to climate and environmental changes. Through this strategy, Leonardo seizes the business opportunities presented by the transition and mitigates the associated risks.

To date, the Group has already achieved significant results compared to the 2019-2020 baseline:

- 43% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based)

- 36% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (Categories 3–8 and 11) per equivalent flight hour

- 21% of Scope 3 suppliers (Categories 1 & 2) engaged in SBT targets

- 23% reduction in electricity withdrawals from the grid

- 21% reduction in water consumption

- 15% reduction in waste produced

The Transition Plan represents a strategic pillar to consolidate Leonardo’s sustainable leadership and generate value in a transitioning economy.
