Imec has demonstrated a three-metal-level superconducting circuit based on niobium-titanium-nitride (NbTiN), reaching a design density of 3.8 million Josephson junctions per cm². The Belgian R&D center has also scaled superconducting NbTiN interconnects to a 30nm linewidth, which it says is a world first.
The developments are aimed at making superconducting electronics more scalable for high-performance computing (HPC), AI accelerators and other compute-intensive systems.
