Synopsys Expands Agentic AI Across Semiconductor Design With AgentEngineer and Autopilot

October 5, 2026 -

Highlights

  • Synopsys has introduced AgentEngineer solutions built on its Autopilot platform to coordinate complex, multi-step engineering workflows.
  • The portfolio covers verification, system validation, physical implementation, analog design, manufacturing and simulation.
  • More than 50 customer engagements are underway, with general availability planned for the end of 2026.
  • Synopsys reports verification closure improvements of up to 50 times, productivity gains of up to 30% and verification coverage increases of up to 20%.
  • The platform supports customer choice across Synopsys, partner and third-party AI models, infrastructure, tools and agents.

Synopsys Moves Agentic AI Beyond Individual Engineering Tasks

Synopsys is expanding its use of agentic artificial intelligence in semiconductor and systems engineering with AgentEngineer, a portfolio of AI agents designed to plan and execute complex workflows, and Autopilot, the platform that coordinates their activities.

Announced on September 28, 2026, the offering targets engineering processes that require multiple stages of analysis, execution, verification and refinement. Rather than responding to isolated instructions, AgentEngineer solutions are designed to work towards larger engineering objectives, adapt their plans based on intermediate results and coordinate specialised agents to complete individual tasks.
