Tenstorrent at The Open Frontier: RISC-V Everywhere

October 19, 2026 -

  • Tenstorrent positions itself as a full-stack AI company that spans IP, silicon, systems, software and cloud. It licenses both CPU and AI IP.
  •  The 2026 roadmap moves beyond individual cores into chiplets and pre-integrated compute subsystems, putting Tenstorrent in direct competition with Arm, SiFive and Andes.
  • Open Chiplet Atlas is the company's bid to set a vendor-neutral way of combining AI, CPU, memory and I/O chiplets from different suppliers, over a common interface.
  • Galaxy deployments are scaling globally, with superclusters in India and systems running in the US and Japan. India also serves as a key design hub for CPU IP, system IP, verification and AI.

The Open Frontier: India’s RISC-V Ecosystem Showcase, 8th October 2026, was the second such event hosted by Tenstorrent in India since 2023. CEO Jim Keller, joining remotely, walked through Tenstorrent's CPU roadmap and its Galaxy AI systems. Mayur, who leads the India site, followed with the company’s strategy and the growing role of its India team. Counterpoint Research attended both keynotes and the hardware demos on the show floor.

Technology: RISC-V on every layer

Keller's central point was that RISC-V is open in a way closed architectures cannot be, and that software built for it stays portable. Tenstorrent now uses RISC-V at every layer of its AI systems, and its product story has moved from single cores to a full catalogue. Two IP products are shipping today: the Ascalon X application CPU and the Tensix NEO AI accelerator. The 2026 lineup widens the CPU range in both directions and adds chiplets, subsystems and software around them.
