TES Electronic Solutions GmbH announces the release of two new high-performance timing IP cores, the TS_XOSC_40M_X8 Pierce Oscillator and the TS_CLKBUF_25pF_X8 Clock Buffer, designed to deliver precise, reliable, and efficient clock generation and distribution for mixed-signal and digital systems. Together, these IP cores form a complete clocking solution in X-FAB XT018-0.18µm BCD-on-SOI CMOS process, ideal for IoT, industrial control, automotive, and communication systems.
The 8MHz / 40MHz Pierce Oscillator:
The TS_XOSC_40M_X8 is a highly integrated Pierce oscillator that generates stable square-wave clock signals at 8MHz or 40MHz, depending on the connected quartz crystal. It operates on a 3.3V supply and features a simple enable signal (EN) for power control, making it ideal for low-power designs.
Key Features:
Dual Frequency Support: 8MHz or 40MHz operation based on crystal choice.
Flexible Operation Modes:
Crystal Mode: Uses a quartz crystal between XIN and XOUT pads, with external grounded load capacitors.
External Clock Mode: If no crystal is present and XIN is hardwired to 0V, the oscillator acts as a buffer for an external clock signal on XOUT.
Drive Level Protection: Built-in amplitude regulation feedback loop prevents crystal overdrive, enhancing long-term reliability.
The TS_CLKBUF_25pF_X8 Clock Buffer:
Following the oscillator, the TS_CLKBUF_25pF_X8 is a high-swing, low-noise clock buffer that ensures clean signal propagation across systems with total load capacitance up to 25pF. It’s optimized to maintain rise/fall times between 1.4ns and 3.1ns, minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI), a critical advantage in sensitive applications.
