TES Electronic Solutions Introduces an Over-Voltage Lockout IP for the Protection of Battery-Powered Systems in X-FAB's XT018 – 0.18µm BCD-on-SOI Technology

July 23, 2026 -

TES Electronic Solutions GmbH announces the availability of its TS_OVLO_3V3_X8 Over-Voltage Lockout (OVLO) IP, a compact protection solution for battery-operated electronic systems implemented in X-FAB's XT018 – 0.18µm BCD-on-SOI technology. The IP is designed to protect sensitive circuits from accidental over-voltage and reverse-polarity conditions, ensuring reliable operation in demanding industrial and battery-powered applications.

The TS_OVLO_3V3_X8 disconnects the protected outputs whenever the battery input exceeds the specified operating range or a reverse-polarity voltage is applied, protecting downstream electronics against supply faults of up to ±30 V. Once the supply voltage returns to the valid operating range, the circuit automatically restores normal operation.

The IP can be found here:

Battery Protection Over-Voltage Lockout IP with ±30V Reverse-Polarity Protection and 950nA Standby Current.

Key Benefits

  • Comprehensive input protection against accidental over-voltage and reverse-polarity connections up to ±30 V.
  • Ultra-low standby current of 950 nA maximum, supporting extended battery lifetime.
  • Integrated 3.3 V power path selection, allowing controlled switching between battery and regulated system power.
  • Low on-state resistance for efficient power delivery and reduced voltage drop.
  • Wide operating temperature range from −40°C to +150°C junction temperature, suitable for harsh environments.
  • Long operational lifetime, rated for 100,000 hours of continuous operation.

Typical Applications

The TS_OVLO_3V3_X8 is well suited for applications requiring reliable battery protection and robust power management, including:

  • Battery-powered industrial electronics
  • Portable and handheld devices
  • IoT and wireless sensor nodes
  • Medical and healthcare electronics
  • Smart metering systems
  • Backup battery power supplies
  • Automotive and transportation electronics operating from low-voltage battery rails

TES will make supporting your design effort a priority—whether integrating this IP into an existing design or developing a complete custom ASIC solution.
