CAST’s Hardware Stack core is expected to increase network throughput of the RF and microwave analyzer
Woodcliff Lake, NJ — CAST, a leading provider of high-performance semiconductor IP cores, today announced that Keysight Technologies has licensed CAST’s 1G/10G TCP/IP Hardware Stack IP core for integration into its FieldFox handheld radio frequency (RF) and microwave analyzers.
Keysight’s FieldFox family is designed for rugged, portable RF field testing and includes configurations for spectrum analysis, network analysis, cable and antenna test, and related measurement functions. Keysight selected the CAST core to add proven TCP/IP networking capability.
“We evaluated a range of options for this functionality,” said Anna Svendsen, NPI Solutions Planning Manager at Keysight. “The CAST core’s signal interfaces aligned well with our requirements, and its configurability and standards compliance were essential. CAST’s licensing model, documentation, testbenches, and support team made the integration straightforward. This integration supports Keysight’s continued investment in advancing high-performance, field-ready test solutions for next-generation RF and microwave applications.”
About the TCP/IP Hardware Stack IP Core
CAST’s TCPIP-1G/10G IP core delivers consistent, high-throughput data exchange with low-latency Ethernet operation, ideal for demanding real-time connectivity requirements. Its fully autonomous architecture eliminates the need for CPU intervention, removing processor overhead while reducing overall system power consumption, a critical advantage for battery-powered field instruments like the FiedFox line.
Designed for seamless integration, the core supports industry-standard AMBA® interfaces and offers exceptional scalability, including support for up to 32,000 simultaneous TCP sessions. Optional UDP, IGMP, and DHCP functionality provide additional flexibility for a wide range of networking environments.
With years of hardware stack experience behind it, CAST’s TCP/IP Hardware Stack IP core has been deployed by customers worldwide across diverse markets, including automotive, consumer, aerospace, data center, industrial, and medical. Customers can choose the standalone core, or pre-integrated solutions incorporating the TCP/IP hardware stack in subsystems targeted for applications such as video over IP.
