Samsung Electronics is revising its gallium nitride (GaN) power semiconductor business strategy. Instead of focusing on devices, where the company has struggled to secure customers, Samsung is expected to concentrate on foundry services, where demand remains relatively strong.
According to industry sources on May 20, Samsung Electronics delivered GaN device samples to several customers earlier this year. However, the company failed to receive final purchase orders because the products did not achieve the required quality and performance levels, preventing the business from reaching mass production.
