Zarlink Semiconductor Selects Processor from MIPS Technologies for Advanced Digital Television Applications
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 6, 2004 - MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications, announced today that Zarlink Semiconductor (NYSE/TSX:ZL), a leader in semiconductor solutions that drive the capabilities of voice, enterprise, broadband and wireless communications, will be utilizing the 32-bit, synthesizable MIPS32® 4KEc™ core in its next generation of advanced digital television products.
With performance of 1.53 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz and features such as MIPS16e™ code compression, large writeback cache memories that can be configured for higher performance, and power-saving techniques, the 4KEc core affords high performance and low power consumption for a wide range of applications such as advanced set-top boxes, integrated digital televisions, and home networking products.
